There is a lot to like about this new universal no-drill bracket.  It’s made in the USA, is manufactured from aluminum and stainless steel to minimize corrosion, it’s llightweight and it can be quickly removed for track day, car shows, meets, or whatever you’re into!

For those of you who are not symmetrically challenged, this universal no-drill bracket places the license plate directly in the center of the front of your car which Craig’s says is where it was intended to be mounted.

Instead of drilling holes and putting in screws, Craig’s universal bracket uses special 3M tape that not only holds the bracket securely in place, but can be easily removed without sticky residue should you decide to remove it.

New Universal No-Drill Bracket From CC Mustang Brackets

Universal No-Drill Bracket Craigs Custom Mustang Brackets Model Full ViewTalk about quality; their bracket is laser cut from 16 gauge plate stainless steel instead of plastic or cheap, steel, yet it weighs only 7 ounces with a plate attached.  It comes with rubber bumper protection which isolates it from vibration and makes it so no metal ever touches your pride and joy.

The base that mounts to your car is machined from 6061 billet aluminum and features a stainless steel mounting stud pressed into it.  It even has a custom knurled thumb nut to mount the bracket to the base.

The secret to its no-drill status is the choice to use 3M 5952 adhesive tape to fasten the mounting base to the bumper cover out of sight.  Craig’s says that this tape from 3M has one of the strongest holds on the market.

If you decide that you don’t care about drilling holes underneath the bumper where no one can see them anyway, the base comes with optional counter-sunk holes to mount it using screws….perish the thought!

Here is what Craig’s says about its bracket testing:

“The all-new attachment design was tested at various stages. It was initially tested by mounting the base to a paintedUniversal No-Drill Bracket Craigs Custom Mustang Brackets Model Mount View surface with the bracket attached and we let it sit for a week; it didn’t move.  Then we hung 10lbs of weight off the mount with the bracket attached and let it sit for a week; it didn’t move.  Then we mounted it on a 2015 Mustang GT, took it up to 100mph using the 3M tape mounting option; it didn’t move. The mount is tested and proven and under no circumstances requires any additional screws to hold it in place. Trust me, I had to pull a mounting base off JLT’s car to mount the final version and it was stuck on tighter than @#$%^&!”

The bracket is barely visible when mounted and it puts your license plate centered higher above the ground where it won’t be damaged as easily by curbs, drains, speed bumps, curbs, steep driveways, etc.

Craig’s says you can have this baby mounted in minutes and then remove it in seconds with its quick-release thumb nuts.  For permanent attachment of the bracket, Craig’s suggests using 1/4 x 20 nylon locking type nuts and washers.

Dan, I think what you’re saying is that you don’t want the plate in the middle so that eliminates the grill-mount and CC Mustang brackets. I don’t have one of your VW models handy, so I can’t take a closeup look, but my first thoughts are that there is a lot going on with the front of the car which although it adds to the looks of the car, doesn’t give you a lot of options for relocating the plate. Between the grill and the underside of the bumper there are some options, but that’s in the middle. Have you seen this article? https://www.licenseplatebracketcentral.com/no-drill-front-license-plate-bracket-new-bracket-lineup-2016/ It has several other options besides the CC Mustang brackets. You might call some of these manufacturers to see if they have any suggestions. You might start something! I apologize I don’t see a location on the front of your model that lends itself off to the side without covering some or most of the side intakes. Wish I could be of more help. -Mark
